Do you suffer from vertigo? Take a deep breath: these are the best 8 rooftops bars, plus the (yet) secret oasis, in Lisbon!

There’s a trend that is here to stay: enjoy the city rooftops for a drink, eat some snacks and enjoy the marvellous light of Lisbon until the sun goes down. Is there anything better than this? Just go up to the rooftop of some buildings in the city, a feat within reach even of those who suffer from vertigo. Let’s just face it: we don’t have real skyscrapers and the view of some of these rooftops is breathtaking. If you prefer going down instead, we also have a suggestion.

Take note:

O Topo
It’s the new Lisbon rooftop, which means that it’s the latest trend. Tucked away at the top of Martim Moniz mall, right in the centre of Mercado de Fusão, to get there you need to cross dozens of Chinese little shops installed in the building, just like China town. The panoramic view to the viewpoints of Monte Agudo, Senhora do Monte, Graça and St George Castle is a delight for your eyes, pairing greatly with the many cocktails and Portuguese tidbits on the menu.

Memmo Alfama Terrace
Ok, in this case we are not talking about the top floor of a building, but the terrace of Memmo Alfama has breathtaking view! With the houses of Alfama at your feet, you can watch one of the best views of Tagus river and the oldest parts of Lisbon. The bar is located near the outdoor swimming pool and has a selection of Portuguese wines.

Rooftop Bar
The summer parties of Hotel Mundial rooftop are well known for good atmosphere, good music and a beautiful view of St. George Castle. A good choice to start the night or end the evening with a gin while relaxing to jazz music.

Madame Petisca
This rooftop is competing with two heavyweights of the viewpoint of Santa Catarina: the terrace of Adamastor and Noobai. Madame Petisca occupies the third floor of Mount Belverde and for several years it was the guesthouse’s restaurant, which however turned into a hotel. To climb to the rooftop you still have to cross the wooden stairs of the hotel, but Madame Petisca is now independent and worth a visit to celebrate. As the name implies there are several snacks to taste and to share, highlighting a letter with canned food.

Park
Another trendy rooftop which can become complicated if you’re planning to drive there: get ready for long lines to enter the building. That’s because this rooftop is installed on the top of a car park very close to Bairro Alto, in a kind of hanging garden with wooden tables and small trees. An advice: go walking, be patient to wait for the elevator and enjoy of the beautiful view of the bridge.

EPIC Sana Lisboa
Condé Nast awarded this rooftop with the 9th place on the list of 12 best rooftops in the world and is well deserved. On the 9th floor of the building there’s a swimming pool that almost merges with Tagus river in the background. The specialty is the cocktail of pineapple juice, coconut ice cream and rum. There’s also light meals.

Páteo
Right in Avenida da Liberdade you will find many fancy hotels and rooftops that deserves a visit. But Valverde Hotel is unique . Why? It has many differences that you will only discover when you get there, because it doesn’t have a roofop, it has a Pateo. Get up the stairs, get in the elevator and press -1. When the door opens you will be in the most beautiful urban jungle in Lisbon: it’s a true oasis in the bustle of Avenida da Liberdade. The vegetation, the pool and the various details create a unique atmosphere where you can enjoy light meals or relax with a cocktail at the sound of good music. On Wednesdays and weekends you have music by djs from 6pm up to 9pm.
